Supposedly it was one of the projects that were unlikely to go into production that they gave to Issigonis in his later years to keep him from harrassing the new designers while still having a nice job so he wouldn't go to the competitors .

When I saw the 1st pic I was thinking hydrogen power :)
How do you generate the heat for the steam unit, that would take a lot of energy :?
