hey Peter..... when you say "chop them off" don't just chop them at the edge with the angle grinder, unpick the spot welds and remove the whole lot

my cooper has rust under there, as did/does my traveller.... I was planning to put them back on my traveller, but maybe I won't anymore. I might even take them off my cooper now to stop the rust spreading any further before I restore it

yep took mine off plenty of rust under them looks so much cleaner with out them i think to.

But an angle grinder makes me feel more macho!

OK, ill unpick them... I didnt really realise they were just tacked on... thought the whole strip was welded. Learn something every day :D

Peel them off with multigrips, you will also probably need to snip off bits of it as you go.
Then cleanup carefully with an angle grinder and flap wheel.
Be careful- the roof flanges are not real thick... :lol:
