What brings you to Aus? You must have some skills that are in demand, it isn't that easy to get permanent residency direct.

What brings me to Aus - an improved quality of life is the main one, the UK has been going downhill rapidly and the mass exodus from UK seems its a good thing to do, oh and better weather.

Your right you need to be skilled to get into Aus, i managed to get on the Jobs In Demand list, im an IT Consultant, still took us a year to finally get the visa though.

The nicer climate for the mini should be great, at the moment in the UK i only get to use it for between 4-6 months a year as it goes into winter storage as soon as they put salt down on the road and it starts raining. So im looking forward to using the 500 alot more.

Don't let these guys worry you with this below zero crap. Mate Australia is a great place. I came here from Malta in 1980 for a holiday and I am still here. It does get cold here in our winter but the cold is only when our lovely sun goes down. Daytime it is always "or most of the time" clear blue sky and sunny and warm. That is our winter. We hardly get rain in winter here. I am sure you will love it too.

In Winter: Below zero at about 6am, once the sun comes out it'll usually be a balmy 15 to 18 degrees at midday. About 10 to 15 'sub-zero' mornings per year, trust me it's not cold as you know it!!

Oh yeah, The MOCQ is the club in QLD if you want good mini runs, socialising with fellow mini nuts and a general good mini time! The Muster this year will be great, Got a few more activities planned and will make it a full day of mini madness and fun!!

Where else but Australia do you find a 40 year old mini that has never had any rust? The shell under my house has less rust than the Sportspacs that were on the street when I live in London in 2002. They were only a handful of years old.

damn sportspacks eat the wheel bearings though, the original set on Bungle only lasted 4k miles!

I'm also keen on finding the local mini scene in Brisbane. I've been living in brisbane for about a year now, I have managed to get things organised and I am now looking for the local mini gathering etc???
