My first impression is that it is a bit rough and not "immaculate inside and out". I wouldn't buy it off photos without a proper inspection. And like everyone else, it's pedigree does not seem to be Cooper S for lots of reasons. I'll add no brake booster to the list and doesn't look like an oil cooler either.

There's something a bit dodgy about the panels near the headlights - that panel seam line from the headlights to the bonnet seems not quite right, and by the look of the other seams it looks like it might have taken a decent hit in the front.

no chance i was gonna buy it off photos, also as soon as i saw no brake booster and no disk brakes i knew it was fishy, thats why i put it on here for everyone to tell me what they think/know about it.

cheers
Rodney.

Hi guys,
The additional things I see (or don't see) incorrect for a British Mk1 Cooper S are worng style of ash tray, incorrectly positioned regulater, wrong brake cylinders, coil in wrong position (this is where the peculiar to Cooper S only solenoid bracket is bolted). There is not enough detail in the photos to look list anything else but I would have severe doubts about it.

Regards
Al

It is a Mini though. And that counts for something. :D

It can be whatever you make it. It looks like a good start for a project, it just needs some imagination. (When I say imagination I don't mean paint it red with a white roof and two stripes down the bonnet. )

Also comes down to the asking price... It appears that it has been established that it isnt a Cooper S, but are they trying to get the money one would pay for a S. I fell sorry for the poor person who hands over a large sum of cash cause they thought it was a genuine Cooper S, and discover later on it isnt.

yeh.... that happened to my girlfriends uncle (starting his midlife crisis AFTER finishing the GTHO and buying the chopper....lol) decided to get some minis, got himself an 850 (pretty shockin condition... all original though :)) then an offer came up to buy this "genuine" cooper s

so over he went to this blokes house and forked over a considerable amount  took it to the mechanics to get an engine rebuild and spray.... taking off all plates and grinding back engine numbers and shell numbers to discover it were only a deluxe......

not a happy guy.....(6"4' Leb....)

back to this guys house makes him give him back just over half of the money..... lol

just goes to show... do your homework.....:D
