That's a neat old trick to get out of a jam, but I've never seen a temporary thread tap made with so much attention to detail!
That's one for the tool box now..

I made one from a flywheel bolt years ago to get a wasp's nest out of the end of my old S crank... :lol:
They are threaded 5/8-16 UNS or something, not a real common size. :wink:

5 minutes with the bench grinder and the dremel :lol: saved me about 50euro for a tap set and wrench from the nearest supplier. not much use for imperial threads here since everything is metric.

but yeah, if its worth doing, its worth doing well (ok most of the time),
hence the subframe is off to the poedercoaten winkel.
