Mine is a clubby S... easiest way to tell is the metal extensions for the flares. Not something thats 'easy to add' or like in my case - remove :S

Mine has the brown seats, highback with the hump on the rear and the trim has vinyl with cloth inserts and 'chrome' surrounds.

Peter.

It is actually quite easy to add and remove the metal flare extensions. I have done it myself. (Just borrow a spotwelder)

The only real way to tell the difference is with the numbers on the plate and the inner guard. (but you can also change them with a spotwelder and a pop rivet gun  )

AFAIK the Mini S wheels are the same as on the Innocenti Mini (from Italy).

They were Rostyle wheels, and remember that Rostyle was a brand, like ROH or Supalite, and had a variety of styles and sizes. Rostyle wheels were very popular on some Escort and cortina models.

Mini S also had blacked-out grille, tacho, radio as standard, with single speaker mounted under the radio in a centre dash panel, carpet as standard (basic Mini had vinyl floor mats).

Early Mini S had the same vinyl seats as the base model, including the adjustable head restraint. Later S had the cloth inserts. Very early S had tan painted interior (I've now heard from 2 owners with this feature on their early Mini S).

Pretty good value for the extra $250 or so.

Cheers,
Watto.

I had this out with Chris Zerial in another thread, we ended up agreeing that the Clubman S was a Rostyle "style" wheel, but not actually manufactured by the English company Rubery Owen (ROstyle!). RO made the Clubman GT ROstyle wheels which were also used on the early English 1275 GT (I had one!). ROstyle rims were also used on MGB's but obvioulsy in larger size

AFAIK the clubman S wheels are identical to innocenti, infact they are actually stamped Firsat, who are the Italian manufacturer. :D

Thats right. They were not made by the ROSTYLE company... but by definition Rostyle wheels are pressed steel wheels that are painted to make them LOOK like mags. SO the FIRSAT wheels are not perhaps technically ROSTYLE wheels, BUT they look almost identical to them, and indeed are Rostyle style wheels if that makes sense. I will keep calling the wheels on my clubby Rostyles.

these are some shots of my clubby S Sunshine and its rostyle style wheels(ignore the centre roof aerial and sunroof and two tone interior and you have a clubman S (late one )

Well, there you go.

I knew they were Innocenti, and thought they were Rostyle.

Now I know they are Rostyle-style, or Rostyle-like.

Cheers,
Watto.

i have carpet and tacho but no radio or speaker and no evidence of any mountings for such. Also, with blacked out grill do you mean not chromed? because my mini has a pretty worn grill but parts of it show that it clearly used to be chromed. unless this was done aftermarket? i was going to have it rechromed but if it is not supposed to be, then i won't.

It's not chrome, it's aluminium with part of it painted matte black from the factory. The shiny bits are the bits without the black paint.

The non-painted parts are as in the photo, with the top and bottom horizontal bars not painted, and the very outside edge - like on CZerial's Sunshine.

The radio was an option with the base model Mini, and I'm pretty sure it was standard on the S. If your's never had one, it may have been optioned without said radio (?).

Cheers,
Watto.
