That's a prime example of why deseaming a mini legally needs an engineers certificate as you are changing the entire structure of the body which also serves as the chassis . As others have mentioned it is a fairly straight forward but time consuming job but remember it's your (and your girlfriend/wife/kids/passengers) head that's at risk if you have a crash and your welds aren't up to scratch . Most engineers will expect you to weld an inch wide strip of sheet metal behind the welded seam's where accesible as well to bridge the joint to be sure of it's strength . It really looks good on race style mini's but isn't something to be taken lightly .

Being that the blokes profession is panel beating i would have thought he would have carried out the task to the level expected of a qualified panel beater and not take short cuts lke this, no pride in his work.

my old man was an old school panel beater and still worked with some of the gear he brought over from england 25yrs ago would of hit the roof if he seen this pic.
