Have the same problem, but with exhaust fime. Had my very trusty mechanic, fixing the manifold gasket and the join clap, but i still smell like crap.

1st Grommet in the fire wall-Make sure they all there
2nd Gear lever- make sure it seal the floor
3rd- Boot seal, get a good one
4th- the fire wall sound deadening "thingo" should help

If anything else fail, take Andrew offer, i never had one like that

Louis

One of my carby floats was getting jammed and causing fuel to run over, It was hitting one of the lines and traveling through the fire wall.

I noticed when it started to drip on my foot one day

I think I will take Andrew up on his offer
By what you are all saying there are soooo many things it could be. But Im pretty sure its not the tank leaking coz it doesnt smell there, its mostly in the car and sometimes its worse on a hot day but on a cold day its bad too. Its a tempermental thing, sometimes it smells sometimes it doesnt. And i dont wanna ask my dad to look because he always bangs his head on the thing to keep the bonnet down and he ends up getting cross at me lol. He's more of a valiant man...
Thanks for all your help though everyone, its heaps nice of yas and I will let you know what it is and we will see who was right
