Y means australia

If that's a question, it's because the drawing office in Longbridge always used the abbreviation ADO - Austin Drawing Office. When the Australian office was opened they couldn't use ADO, so someone in England chose YDO. I would suggest the Y= Australia came from that, as the drawings were YDOxx.

I first read this in the book "the men of the Austin", which is basically the history of the longbridge plant, but overlayed with the history of the company of course. I think it was also just mentioned in the latest Mini Experience mag also.

Can anyone help me with finding the power output of the 12YD engine?
I have looked on the 1100 website, but couldnt find it.
I am wanting to find it for when i register the change of engine number (which the previous owner did not)

Wasn't Andrew - met him at the Rocky swap meet flogging a beautifully restored Moke for $12,500 - heard he had two other projects that ended up going to Mt Isa. Can't remember who he got it off but it was a bloke who had no clue as to what it was.
