I used to see one exactly the same as that up in Atherton yrs ago, the paint was faded but it had that exact trim. Ive got a feeling its been parked up in a shed somewhere and forgotten about.

I can't find a listing of Charrelle or anything like it.

What colour is the car? (or the inside of the car?)

I can find Cherry Red or Chartreuse in the book.

Doogie

Before I clicked the link I knew that was the car you were talking about  .
But I have to say I don't agree with you, what he's done is modify it in such a way that it can very easily be returned to original so I don't think it's ruined just customised, and he did try and trade it for something else for some time before he carried out those modifications  , and it wasn't original either.

But back to the topic of 850 values I'd say for a top notch one, around 10k :? .

Customised = The ruining of a Rare Original Mini

that would be my car, brought for 3K aparrently it had been for sale for 3 months already and i've had it up for trade for almost 6 months now, still do. . . so if they are so sought after why did no one get it before i did?

Chartreuse is a 62 colour.
It is one of the BMC colours that has two names. They used one name on family cars and a sportier name on sports cars. Chartreuse is the family car name, its other name is Aintree Green. Aintree was a racing circuit in England (Liverpool) So you can guess that it is a kind of British Racing Green (I hate that term  )

The sporty names were all racing circuit names or places related to the national colours for motor racing.
Aintree (green)
Katoomba (grey  )
Rheims (blue)
Monza (red)
Monaco (blue)
Nurburg (white)

We bought our original 850 for 5 and half, although we were offered 8 for it a little while ago. Most expensive mini we've bought.

Found this one after being away for a few days , Chartreuse was also used in 1961 on mini's as there are a few on the list spread over 1961 as well as some in 1962 . Maybe different with the rest of the BMC range ???

This mini fits in as being built late 1961 .

I get my paint dates from the Dulux books. Dulux was good with giving out colour charts and code books but I can see a big problem in that because Dulux was not the factory paint supplier, Berger was.
