That used to happen to me too when I drove Orangie when it had the 998. But once transformed into TurboOrangie I could put up a fight . I particularly enjoy it when I am stopped at a light and everybody decides to go in to the other lane thinking they are all going to get by the old slow Mini. The light goes green and they are all safely behind me.

I really can't wait for the VTEC Traveller, there is no F'n way people are going to be passing me unless I want them to pass me. And I will have a huge grin on my face when they try to pass and I resist. (I obviously won't do it in a situation that would endanger anybody.)

I definitely think there is something in this "Mini's piss me off" theory. There seems to be no shortage of inconsiderate morons who think mini's & mokes are a nuisance & must be overtaken at all costs. I even reckon some believe we have no right to be on the road.

From my experience, driving the wife's Soo-bar-roo, there's never any dramas.
As soon as I'm on the road in the S, every bastard is up your backside.

But maybe I'm just paranoid (or perhaps ignorant).

you cant beat the shock on the bogan in the VL commodore's face when you leave him for dead off a set of lights around a corner, then crossing six lanes into the opposite turning corner

ladies and gentlemen...i have a personal theory on this problem.......Its called
SMALL PENIS SYNDROME....yes i know what your thinking,he has gone mad,but no..ok lets face it you are in a small car,a MINI,there are people out who drive..lets say big cars, and they think that they own the road.So by being passed by a Mini they feel that there sexual manhood has been, shall we say challenged.now this is all well and good, but i feel in australia this is some what magnified by the the current culture,i for one just love mashing the throttle to the carpet when said person feels his manhood is on the line.its the old addage, big car small penis, small car large penis.yours sincerley john holmes, cheers and beers.andy

Yes, it happens to all of us.

My most recent experince of this type was on the way to Minishow in the Moke. A black late-model BMW coupe, debadged, lowered etc was doing 70-75kph in the left lane of a six lane 80 zone road. So I went past him in the middle lane, getting up to about 82kph on my GPS. The BMW driver immediately buries the throttle, screams past me in the right hand lane and drops back to the middle lane in front of me and resumes doing 70kph. The left land ends and I end up behind him again so I pull into the right lane as we approach the next set of lights. I'm the front car in the right lane. The lights change and I bury the throttle. He gets caught behind a slower car in the left lane so he cuts in behind me (right lane) and sits aggressively about four inches from my bumper. I change into the left lane to let him pass just as we approach a fixed speed camera I already new about. Mr Hero in the black BMW screams past and gets a nice flash from behind. Justice served.

i had one tonight, driving rodneys mini. this guy was in some kind of commonwhore, doing maybe only 5 under the limit (i was sitting on the limit ) in the left lane, so i got in the right lane and overtook him. my indicator hadn't even gone off form getting back into the left lane when he turns his on and guns it past me. then slows down again

his licence plate was NUF... heeheehee

Here in NZ, there is a very definate urge to "pass the mini". Sometimes I've had a clot overtake and I've had to brake hard because they've tried to squash into what was a nice flowing line of traffic. These same people are the ones that hold the Mini up on hills or a windy road, braking in the middle of a corner and showing atrocious driving skills. When the mood suits me, I deal to them and attempt to teach them a little respect for the marque that won Monte Carlo 4 times and became the legend it is. Dickheads!

I was once driving along innocently in the left hand lane of a 3 lane road doing the speed limit. There was only one other car on the road, in the far right lane. He deliberately changed lanes, not into the left lane, but into the cycle lane and passed me on the left. Two other lanes to choose from and he passes me in the cycle lane. :?

It's the worst on narrow country roads. You'll be sitting on 100 and Commodore-driving idiots pull all sorts of dangerous tactics to pass you, then slow down to your speed. Used to notice it heaps in the VW beetle too.

It's more fun when they take off after passing you, then you get to pass them when they're pulled over by the cops! Happened once or twice..
