i have stuck to one mechanic. one place put them on and tuned them and it was wrong. went to another place tuned it and got it running well but loss power. the third place didnt even look at the car, i just went there to pick up some blue springs and they asked me what were they for and i explained to them. tiny only now goes to one place to get work done.

ive had a crack and trying to work those stupid things myself but without success, thus why im going to change it back to single again.

also the motor has a cam is a 730 with some ground work done, cant remember exactly now though.

Cam would be a 731 actually.

Wouldn't it be a 730 once he goes to a single carby?

that sentence is so contradictory its not funny. You say you have stuck to one then admit to using two places.

the tune on his car is fine - there was nothing wrong with his A/F ratio on the dyno - there is no extra power to be had from changing your carb Joe.

Pay attention here......

I agree the mixture is right but after trying to tune it I have serious reservations about his dizzy setup.
Idling at 1000rpm or so, if you pull the vacuum line off it, it nearly stalls.
I'd tune and run it without the vacuum connected until this problem is sussed out.

Tiny, get your Dizzy looked at first. You may have a problem here. If your mixtures were all over the place then play with a different carby, but as they weren't you need to look elsewhere. Get your Dizzy put on a graph and see exactly what it's doing, or not doing as the case may be.

There is no point in trying to talk common sense to him. It will not work. He will not listen.

He has tried three different sets of carbies and none of them give the power he wants. Anyone can see that this means the problem is not in the carbies but he will take no notice. Missing head stud? No problem just change the carbies.

For all we know the car could have an 850 head or a worn out cam or the timing chain has jumped a tooth but we will never know because Joe just keeps changing carbies.

I keep thinking that there must be a way that I can make some money out of this.

There is a heap of vacuum on the line at idle, normally with an HS2 there should be very little, until the throttle starts to open.
Maybe the carb's connection is set up for manifold vacuum, not ported vacuum. :?

ABC's ratings would plummet... yet if Channel 10 made the show, their ratings would soar

Has anyone put a gauge on this port to see what it does. Does the vacuum disappear when the throttle is opened etc. Where is the vacuum take-off situated? There's no vacuum port at all on my twins as (If I'm not mistaken) Cooper S's didn't have vacuum advance.

As you've said already, he'd be better loosing the vacuum advance altogether until sorted.
