Can you post a photo of the door gap so it shows the gap all the way around the door which includes the front and back of the door as well as the window frame.
The isue is how far the hinge panel has been pushed back and weather the windscreen (A) pillar has moved back as well.
I would advise not removing the Guard until you have the door gap back to the right shape. You may need to clamp or weld onto the damaged guard as a fixing point to pull it all forward.

It's fixable, Rocky Canto or any old school panel beater could fix it.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

I agree it is fixable but get a really good panel beater to look at it first or even a few good ones to get different opinions. My biggest concern is the A pillar then the B pillar, if the car is narrowed or different lengths to what it should be in these areas it will be a lot harder/expensive to repair. IMO the door, A/hinge panel and front guard are ready to be cut off and binned, once it's clean of these things it will look better  . I would also check the subframe and fully rebuild the drivers wheel hub (mosewell do both at the same time) .
I suggest you strip the door, dash and front interior right out before you get a panel beater to look at it so they can get a better idea of what is bent and offer to strip any parts off the car if it will make it easier for them to repair it (that way they wont get annoyed with having to work in a confined space and they should do a better job for a bit cheaper).
Good luck with the repairs or what ever you decide to do.

as mentioned mast night on msn I would drop the motor and subby I would expect the subframe to be bent orcracked. specialy seeing as the rack is bent so much as it it is. Pannels. Not sure who I would go to but I would follow Doogie's recomendation with Rocky (in Weatherapark) old place as they know Mini's. Rockies being close to where you live will be really handy also

I agree but a straight-ish shell to swap your parts into is only going to set you back max $2k and lots of your labour which is going to be far less than what it will cost to get that shell on the road again. Or just keep the bits you want out of that car and put them into a replacement mini.

You have to decide whether or not you want that mini or just a mini. I understand the setimental value of your mini to you but at the end of the day it might not be viable.

Best of luck either way,

Matt
