Lionel Otto the local Speedo rebuilders/calibrators told me this method to collect the data they need.
Have the car on a flat hard surface with plenty of room in front to roll the car foreward.
Disconnet the cable from the back of the speedo and stick a little 'flag' on the end of the inner cable so you can see it rotate and count the revolutions.
Mark the point where a non driving wheel (ie rear) touches the floor.- floor and tyre.
Push the car foreward for 2 - preferably 4 if you have room- revolutions of the wheel. Count the number of revolutions of the 'flag' on the speedo cable.
Measure distance travelled and divide by the number of wheel rotations.
divide the number of speedo cable rotations by the number od wheel rotations so you end up with the averages for one wheel turn.
Take your speedo and the information of cable turns per one wheel rotation and distance traveled per wheel revolution to the specialist speedo calibrator and they will do the rest
