Level is normal. Down in the front means it needs adjusting.

I like the idea of level....

all the books give one measurement.....regardless of auto or manual

Minis are also supposed to be level. (or nearly level)
When you lower a Mini by dropping the hydro pressure the helper springs in the rear will not have enough tension to keep the car level. So the result is a nose down attitude.

hmmm
Not sure if its related to the above, however when my car was pumped up the rear went up first then the front as it got to close to the right (factory) PSI. it was like the rear was being held with the springs to let the front come up that extra inch.

I was warned not to drive with the 13+" in height as the 'bags' had a tendancy (in the past) to burst at higher than 250 psi........ :?:

The bags should be good for 300-320 on initial pump-up...if they ain't, then they are stuffed :!:

Maurice...the Mini factory settings say about 1/2inch higher in the rear end...what you talkin 'bout Willis :?:

So, leading on from this...

I reckon the pressure is low in the Hydro....so

If:

- I get Mick to readjust the helper springs back to 'normal' setting; and
- Pump to normal pressure

Olli should, with a little adjusting, ride relatively level...

If I thought that it wasn't too low I'd drive him to Goulburn for a certain Morris 1100 expert to have a tinker.....

I've been trying to work out in my mind if placing a washer in the front will help the situation, I can't decide....

I figure that it will bring the front up as the rear will try to be driven down a little more to compensate, which will be counteracted by the spring..

But I think it would take a practical experiment to find out.

Yes is the answer...

Are you sure the rear has been 'adjusted"?

Have it pumped to the factory psi in conjunction with the factory ride height (according to the factory book Deluxe Mini is measured from hub centre to top of wheel arch - how rudementry is that!)

My line is that I prefer suspension travel to roller skate skipping, so will follow the BMC bible. If a hydro bag bursts due to age - I will just have to get a replacement - or four. However remember my car has hardly been used in comparison to other Minis ive met so material fatigue might also be a valid point for some.
