I used to buy them by the bag from some of the MG specialists - all stainless and available in lots of sizes.

and I never reuse them

I've stopped looking for decent 1/8" split pins now.. instead I made some proper solid pins from 3.2mm welding electrode cut 80mm long, and bent both ends over 90°.
No way these suckers will fall out.. 8)

What does A2 & A4 grade mean in relation to steel fasteners etc??

'Mr Stainless' in Drummoyne lists on their website that they sell split pins in these grades:

re grade A2 and A4, we use grade 4 asian bolts at work and they are cheap rubbish...
Decent bolts start at Grade 5 and go up....8, 12, etc.
