Hey David,,, i don`t use locktite on head studs at all,,, & if you have the money for new studs then don`t be tight, just pay it,,, i used to re-use them & occasionally still do depending on the build,,, but remember how dam old these things are getting & over the last few years i`ve been experiencing more & more broken ones,,, & that`s a pain in the butt
The ones with the dimple in the middle of the top are best in my books,,, but the ones with the slight tapered top aren`t bad either,,, the plain ones are crap.

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.
You should put your heart & soul into everything you do.
