lol so many questions

Josh - Triumph is a 2 litre straight 6 with a 3 speed borg warner auto - quick it ain't but it's very smooth!

Simon - very happy with the Triumph, it's been sprayed at some stage in the original color - sort of a brown/red - very 1971!, interior is lovely, power steering would be nice though

Dylan - we had a great time, the USA is a great destination, so much to see and do!

update

You really have to wonder about the value of RACV coverage

when the car stopped the RACV came out and suggested the problem was either the coil or the fuel pump

turns out it was both so I guess I have to pay that one

Ballistic was good enough to do a home visit and found the PO had wired the fuel pump off the coil (who'd have thought it was possible!) but more importantly one on the small wires off the coil (spade connector) had parted company with the coil - all of a few minutes with the pilers to fix yet the RACV throw their hands in the air and call a tow truck

I'm thinking of making a formal complaint to the RACV - every time I've had them out to one of the toys it's been a waste of time and we've gone home on a tow truck

end rant

i musta gotten the one half decent guy in the nrma, when my extractors came off (sheared off at the gearbox mount) the nrma guy called me first, and he said it sounds like i need a tow truck, but he came and had a look at it anyway, and we did the bush mechanic fix, pulled em up and wrapped wire around them so that it got me home.

Weeellllll.....

I have to say that the last 2 times I have used the NRMA, they were good. Mind you, it isn't too hard to diagnose that I was out of fuel the first time.

The second time was yesterday after show and shine...parked at the shops and he no start...all I got was a very audible 'click'.

-Lights all worked so I knew the 6mth old battery was fine...
-transmission lockout wasn't to fault either (you get nothing with that)

My guess was starter motor....

Mr NRMA arrived in 15min....checked a few electrical things...I mentioned the starter motor...he gave it a 'tonk' (rather than a hit) with a BFH...no good...next, after discovering that he was dealing with an auto (the look on his face was sheer disgust)....he inserted a screwdriver into the grill side of the flywheel cover and moved the flywheel about 1/2 inch...

He said there was a 'pop'.....next thing you know turn the key and away we went.....

Last time i used the NRMA, wire to the fuel pump had broken. On a country road 20 minutes out of town. The patrol man lay on his back on sharp rocks to fix it. May have been lucky that I knew him (he bought a house off me).
