We have a lot of old crap in sheds at the AAD, tonnes of it (want a dead husky?), but unfortunately no-one saw fit to archive a mini-trac.

Can't see why not, we seem to have heaps of them. We also have a few that aren't stuffed, in the freezer. I think that's how they reward years of long service here.

I think you have to die first, they don't just grab you and throw you in there.

Last time I looked there was a whale in there too. Its quite a big freezer.

Dont know if its been posted before, but National Archives Australia site has a bit of info on the mini with tracks & other mini stuff. Look under morris , mini, bmc , etc. Pictures of production lines. A police mini, and other stuff.

Dug it out again , this is the photo from the archives site and the one that started the searching ...

I would guess that it is a skid steer just like most other tracked vehicles. You have two brake levers, one for each side, usually hooked to the throttle as well.
Push the levers to go foward, the more you push the faster it goes.
Pull the levers to stop.
Pull one to turn.
Push one and pull one to turn quickly.

I wonder if it was a matic? Two advantages, auto makes it easier to drive and they came with a heater. (being 65 it could not be a matic!)

Brilliant!!! I've seen some shots of it, some time ago.

But I never thought that it could be more than a mockup and realy made it's way to the antarctica!

How to get hold of the article in Europe...!?

Cheers,
Jan
