im all ears :D (still got them lol)
and now with 10 days off... lol

start by staying away from the fan/alternator area while the engine is running..... "whirling blades of death" is their other common name

that finger isn't going to heal in 10 days - you'll feel it for the rest of your life - but you know that already ;)

I agree with Simon about staying away from spinning fans, we can stay away from them & we're both idiots!

Ouch!

Plastics guys are great, they can really work wonders - just make sure that you get in to see a hand therapist too (if the surgeon doesn't refer you automatically ask)

repairing the damage is only one part of it, the quality of the follow up therapy is what will make the big difference 6 or 12 months down the track

btw you need a HAND therapist - not a physiotherapist who'll have a look at it for you - there will be at least one attached to every good plastics guys rooms

good luck

im sorry matt but im gonna have to agree with simon. u r a f**ken idiot, number 1 rule to fixing engines is never put ur hands near rotating bits and have the motor off when doing repairs. mate ur lucky u havent lost that finger for good.

i remember working at one of our stores in casula and the senior mechanic tryed to tension a alternator belt while the motor was running. he lost 3 fingers that day and never returned to work and still feels the pain after 2 and a half years.

mate working on cars is fun but u have to be safe and smart about it.

hope u heal up soon.

it would of been cheaper to buy a better surround then see a plastic surgeon.
