Don't forget, it was only a Mini Tractor - with the BMC Mini badge on the front - until 1968. That was when the 948cc A-series engines (petrol and diesel) were replaced with the 1500cc B-series diesel engines. (official ID on the plate is: BMC Tractor Model 9/16)

After that they were a Nuffield 4/25.

The blue ones were the Leyland 154, which had the 1800cc engine.

So, while the Leyland ones are the same size physically, they are not a Mini Tractor.

Cheers,
Watto.

A Mini Tractor would look good next to the Kubota. Might have to invest...

I've still got a couple of those very nice blue 2 inch square metal blue and silver enamel "British Leyland" badges that adorned the nose of the later c1970 tractors. Same as the one John Leffler used to mount in the centre of his Mini sports sedan grille when he was part of the BL Aust Young Lions works team.

I'd be happy with a 950 diesel engine only...

Henry Draper supposedly has a pair of them on his property that are in running condition. He and another bloke went racing in Japan, and the people who invited them over came out here and spent a few days driving the tractors around

Be careful, if you are thinking about buying it, thinking it is a Mini Tractor.

The Mini Tractor was designated 9/16, meaning nine forward gears and 16hp. The tractor advertised on eBay is 27hp, so it probably has the B-Series engine. You would need to check it out.

Full details on the various models and the changes are in Issue 17 of The Mini Experience.

The Mini Tractor (the only model named that and with the Mini badge) should have an ID plate below the dashboard, with model type 9/16.

ONLY the 9/16 had the A-series engine.

Anything else is a later model a NOT a Mini Tractor. Later models were Nuffield 4/25 then Leyland 154.

Cheers,
Watto.
