Hi Simon,
You forgot to mention the earlier H4, 1.5" and correct equipment (offered by BMC Competitions Dept) for early Cooper S's. The H4 has vertical mounting studs, HS4 has diagonal studs.

my local mini parts guy had a hif44 in stock, and it works brilliant once tuned on a 1275 with bens kit.

But the side effect is that every other car you drive will most likely feel boring.

Great info every one now ive slowly slowly got to get funds together, ive got the SC sorted out but my wife wants me to start build up the front garden so thats wher the money will be going ATM DOH. not happy but she is. i hate owning my own home and trying to slowly fix up a car No where near as much money to throw at it as when i was renting or Living at home.

Not sure if its mentioned yet but there are 2 variants in the HIF44
One is the normal one, one is the sealed 'Blow through' turbo carb.
Very different prices... one will allow boost through it, one wont.
You 'can' convert a non sealed HIF44 into a sealed blow through one for turbo or supercharging but its prolly not worth the hassle.

If its a suck through setup - use either.
