I chose hybrid as the power of a tuned 4E-FTE in a Mini is absolutely insane and crazy. It is silly and rediculous but I love it.
However I
LOVE my superchared Mini. I really can't think of having it any other way. The car wouldn't feel right without an A-series and the unique sound of a supercharged Mini is awesome. The induction noise is immense. It's quick, but not scary and with passengers quite sedate (doesn't like all that extra weight

). I think even a twincam head would be going to far. It's a rod of a Mini and likes it ancient head technology
I think a stoko 1275 Mini is great too. It's low rpm lazy fun. It's a cruiser.
And I drove a hot(ish) smallbore Mini (with drum brakes all round

) the other night for the first time. Man it sounded sweet. Real throaty with it's lumpy cam. 'Twas a beast!! But it just didn't go hard. in 50 or 60 kph zones it's fun as it will get up to speed quickly enough but 4th gear acceleration isn't great. I think around the streets in town it would be fun if you kept the revs up.
But I live out in the hills with 100kph zones all round and big hills. I think a smallbore Mini would get iritating out here. I sometimes find the stock 1275 gets annoying in the face of steep inclines.
So I guess the answer is simple. Get one of each type. So when one doesn't fit the bill, switch to the other. A Mini for all seasons (occasions rather but seasons sounded better

).
