I bought a 1967 deluxe in 1976 for $200 ,one owner, drove it till it died, actualey I think I killed it :) It took nearly a year to do it. I was seventeen at the time. I traded it in on a V8 Torana that cost me $5000.I eventualy killed that too. :D

Thank GOD the arse has falled out of the scrap metal game. These farmers were sending all their minis to the scrap, but now I find them and rescue them.
Once I have all my sheds sorted out then I am going to pick up the cars I have bought. as long as they are still there
My idea is to rescue as many as I can and then pass them onto caring ,loving mini people. All I want to do is cover my costs.[except for the S]
I am amazed just who many poor minis are laying around the country areas of SA. neglected. There are quite a few that are beyond help, but they are always good for bits. Most of these farmers have no idea what they are worth and the least they know the better.
My wife is going to divorce me but, as I told her"tell some one who gives a sh*t" :D :D :D

Thats right"head west young man" That's how I found the S. The farmers kids had used it as a padock basher until the hydro collapsed. They pushed into a lean-to with a tractor and left it to rot. :x :x
That one was about 250km's past Ceduna
I have found two that were buried under a pile of old wool bales and fertilizer bags. The rats have eaten all the up-holstery and left a pile of sh*t

Sorry not a mini - but I bought a matching numbers 1968 Holden HK GTS 327 Monaro in 1983 for $3,900 (and still have 26 years later)!

Sold my 850/1275 Castrol Green `Pretend S' for $600 and bought a new Fiat 124AC Sports coupe in January 1969 for $3,648. I was only making $65/week as a fitter machinist with NSWGR.
That seemed dear, but an Alfa 105 GTV was $4,995 back then. Loved 'em but couldn't afford one.

When I started my apprenticeship in 1968 my weekly wage was the princely sum of $11-50. for a 40 hr week :x :x I use to earn more money working in a service station filling cars on the weekend
but then a pack of smokes was 20 cents and a gallon of petrol about the same.

if an apprentice fitter today makes $30K, you would have been making around $41K - your Fiat would have been like a $45k car - that's a new Golf GTI, Audi A3... nice cars
