Sorry to hear about your problems.

Keep it. Keep it for as long as you can until you really can't drive anymore then you can think about what to do. 5 months is NOTHING for a mini. 5 years I bet a new tank of fuel, oil change and she will kick over again no problems!

Agreed, and it's hardly likely to loose value

It sounds like a fairly sh!tty predicament to be in Jon, but there is nothing to stop you from enjoying the car everyday, even if you can't burn around the streets in it. AND, as previously mentioned, there are plenty of very trustworthy people who will drive the car to shows and events for you.

Failing that, if you can't hang on to it, by advertising on Ausmini and through the state club sites, you're sure to find a fantastic new home for it were it'll be looked after as well as it can be.

I hope everything works out for the best here Jon

Thats horrible news about whats happened. I say keep it, at least then you can start her and hear her. Probably the next best thing to driving her, and theres always car parks with a navigator if you get really desperate. Like on top gear.

Jon, I am sorry to read the news about your declining vision.

But you still have your licence right?
And you are going to eventually hand your licence in?
You still have the car...

So why not see if you can lose the licence before you lose all your sight.
Just jump in the Midas and see how far you can go before losing all your points. Go out in a blaze of glory. Unless of course you back into the otto bin before getting stuck on the gatepost because you can't see a damn thing anymore.

Before anyone complaints, this is a joke between friends. I am not advocating letting blind people behind the wheel at very high speeds. Medium speeds will do.
Anyway, if you are going to drive around blind Canberra is the place to do it.

Jon I'v been sitting back and sorry to here whats happeneing.
Lets just say you don't know whats around the corner and your health should improve and if you have the chance grab it.

Which is the reason why I say keep hold of your prized posessions. You could regrett it down the track. You know I would take the Midus off you anytime when I have the money you want. Possibley in 6 months time and you are thinking of it again thier is always a deal.

Your Family First thou

ha ha,,,, now that`s a good possibility,,, lets enter Targa Tassie Rally again,,, this time in your midas & both me & Morris1100 can be navigators :-) No one will know you`r blind

It`d be (sort of) just like my mum used to do,,, she`d go to the licence testing center,,, sit down & pretend to read a book,,, whenever anyone asked if she needed a hand or if she wanted to sit a test or anything, she`d just say that she was waiting for her son to arrive ,,, then ,,, after a long while waiting, pretending to read a book,,, & all the while she was actually memorizing all the letters on all the eye charts that "other" people were reading off for their own test,,,, she`d then get up & pass her eye chart test with flying colours :-)

True story !!!!!!!! & i swear on her ashes!!!!!!!!! & true as i type here right now,,,

funny as Sh!t i reckon hey?? :-) covering up her only "Real" eye & pretending to read through her glass eye :-) & then covering up her glass eye & reading out through an eye that can hardly tell night or day, let alone any colours or shapes,,, :-)

She`d be p!$$ing her pants laughing right now watching me type this on her

Jon,,, just do what`ever you can man,,, & if you can`t do it one day, then we`re here for you,,,Whatever we can do mate.

Edit--->,,, ok,,, maybe we could start with sorting you out an "Ausmini voice forum" thingy,,, so you can hear what others type & you can speak in & it types for you yeah??? :-) Then we`ll do Targa In your Midas ok? :-)
