I think the idea may be if the tyre disintegrates at highway speeds there wouldnt be all that much left to complain to him. Would a better option be 10 x 6 with a 1 inch spacer?

yeah thats true but my point is he isnt going to sell u a tyre thats going to disintegrate on a highway or in any condition because he is liable.

nankangs are car tyre, not sure what the load and speed rating is on them but my point being is.. he wouldnt be that stupid enough to sell faulty stuff.

I'm pretty sure Nankang do a range of tyres for things from bicycles up to trucks as well as car tyres though . This is all up in the air till someone can provide the ratings from the tyres , I hope they are correct for highway use but would like to know the ratings to be sure .

Nankang make a lot of tyres for off road use (wheelbarrows and lawnmowers) as well as road tyres.
I would be looking at the sidewall for the data before endorsing them for road use.

I have no idea what speed these Nankangs are rated for, but the Goodyear Double Eagle 205/50-10 sold in the US are DOT rated. Whatever that means..

I got to agree with Tiny (did just type that  ), I doubt Tempe would be risking their business selling these things if they weren't road legal (without at least getting you to sign a waiver).

does anyone live near Tempe and can go see them and actually ask the question?

the racing type 4x4 motorbikes use these sort of wheels too - the son of the guy work for as built a motorbike engined buggy using very wide 10" steel wheels off one

Depends on how it is transmitted, but I'd be advising your best mate, his girlfriend, and your neighbour's dog to get it checked out. :P :D

A tyre service will sell any tyre in the shop. That is what they do. If I go in and ask for tyres that will fit a lawnmower they will fit them to my wheels. They do not ask me to sign a waiver. They just take the money.

But if I drove my car in it would be different.
