So,
the pistons and rods are the only difference between 998 & 1098?

If I source the parts, Graham will fit?

Don't know if he does it as a routine but I had been waiting 2 years for his flat top pistons and he had supplier problems (Order went missing and took equally as long to get it replaced) In the mean time I had bought all the bits and pieces I needed to do the build and in the end I asked Graham if he would put it together and he did.

Rampage101... No,,, the 1100 crank has a longer stroke than a 998,,, (that`s the reason for the increase in capacity as it has the sdame size bore)

so the crank is different & the pistons are shorter to suit the longer stroke crank

ok, gotcha! Turn my 998 into an 1100! Should I then put an 1100 head on?

Well yeah if you have a 202 or 295 head, but they will still work OK with an 850/998 one. Less power, but more low down torque.

Back in the 60s I modified a few worn out stock 850s to take new 1098 crank, rods and pistons. With a standard 850 head and the 3.76 diff, they could just about climb trees. 8)

ok guys, an easy one for you!
I have lined up what we believe to be a stroked 998 from a trusted ausmini member. I just wanted to know if I was to measure the stroke on a standard 998 and compared it to the prospective engine, would that be enough to say yes or no.
What would be the measurement for the stroke on the 1100? From the top of the cylinder to the top of the piston at its lowest point?

Cant give you the Measurement..Some one will be able to but its just a Matter of taking one of the Spark plugs out and putting a wire down to the top of the Piston when its on TDC
