They were made by 'Manx', for Ford 'Kent' engines. But of course Kent based Lotus engines fit aswell. But I think both engines needed a special crank or crank tail adapter to take the Mini(?) flywheel:

thanks Asphalt. those pics gave me flashes of a long ago nightmare. When I helped with the ford bda on to mini box we made 1 and 3/4's of a complete new crank machined from billet steel. the 3/4 one was the crank i stuffed up :x
They have done a nice job of the gear box adapter. ours was a little more" agricultural" but it worked.
