A trick with SUs on race cars a long time ago was to fit remote float bowls to reduce surge or vibration. (some cars used two bowls on the one carby!)
You could stick a HS2 bowl on the side of the HIF44 at the right angle and height to overcome any problems. You then feed the jet directly from the bowl like on a HS type carb. :wink:

Or just try it as it is and see if any problems arise with the angle.

Another idea would be to do what I said in my first post. 8)

Ah well this GR manifold must be in Portugal by now. When Luis has it up and running, we'll see how it goes.
He said he can reduce the angle if he needs to.

Just got the word from Graham Russell. He has been talking to UK people.

The HIF44s are designed to work properly at up to 18°. They are mounted at nearly this angle on a Rover V8.
However, for optimum performance use (racing) they should be mounted at 11-12°.
Deeper bowl kits for competition use are also available here from SUMidel. These come with a fuel jet extension.
