and I think that its not that the aftermarket mounts are too fat, if you look at the mount images above, the plates are massively out of alignment from where they should be....deliberate or not I don't know, but there's a lot of rubber saved by doing so...
This has the effect of need to ram the engine further down into the subframe to get the holes to line up. As the subframe is tapered, this will often never happen.
You can get away with one engine mount like this, but two will simply not work.
