 I believe the Kombi got off scott free because the episode was sponsored by VW :!:

Fair enough to do generic cars or lemons but why a collectable in good condition:?: To top it all off the show is utter rubbish, it has as less entertainment value than trying to cut both of your wrists plastic spoon :!:

The show feels too fake. All the jokes are too well thought out and the reactions are far too predictable.

They could at least take some acting lessons

Yeah at least it's better than the first season.
I can't believe they destroyed that nice looking Van though. Mine is totally full of rust and I STILL wouldn't want it treated like that.

I don't m ind Clarkson et al and often watch the British series, but the Oz version is just plain pathetic - I never watched more than parts of two episodes of the first series and none of the second. Doesn't sound like I've missed much.

This wasn't the best ep of Series 2 so far, but they did have more respect for it than you might have expected having read the threads about it on here... I know it's painful - especially for the previous owner and others who knew the car, especially given it was a great prospect for restoration and a long life, but... The Mini was given more respect than the others. Well, I thought it was. Everyone acted as though the Statesman was just boring, ordinary, not worth discussing. The Kombi was derided as being completely incompetent (you could hear Waz and Steve hate them almost as much as Gaf does), and so it avoided being tested at all, and yet still wouldn't drive home.

The Mini actually had some respect - there was logic behind its choice (it was the 'anti-Giant-Panda' (referring to the UK Limo challenge), in a way), it kept the 'VIP' safe (compared with Warren's car, where the attackers actually started ripping him from the seat)... Sure, it's not good to see the car end up that way, but it had more dignity throughout the segment than any other car.

That said, I hope it improves again next week. Now where's that flame-proof jacket?

at the end of they day, they've smashed up a car that was in good condition and isn't being made anymore. i'm glad they didnt smash up the kombi, but realistically it would be the same for any collectible classic. we all have the emotional connection to the mini which is why it hurts that bit more.

fair enough, go to the wreckers and try to find something that is beyond help, but not a car like scarlet!!! (mind you, i think there were more than a few on here that didn't think mick would have much luck with the cooper S and look at it now!)

the thing about this stuff is that its exposure for minis, even though not the best outcome for it, it may have caught some more people on to how minis are and what they can do (this may be bs but people are weird like that)
As they say any publicity is good publicity

Oh Marcello!
And to think you were headed there in person. If you REALLY want to see it, I have it on DVD that a friend did for me as I missed the show on the night it aired. If I can copy it, PM me your address and I'll post it to you. I'm not computer literate enough to upload just that bit, besides it is in 2-3 parts throughout the show.
KB

Edit - like someone just has above  (I posted this before I got to the bottom of the thread obviously).

OMG... i just watched it for the first time...

I know people say to me "well you sold it and got what you wanted for it so you cant be upset" but its not the same. It just sh1ts me that they could have bought a $500 sh1tbox which ran and had absolutely no significance to anyone and they could have thrashed be be-jesus out of that one and no one would have cared (hell like the holden the other guy got) but this car was advertised as an original car. Original stickers, original engine with 77000kms on it, original flat as a tack floor, original interior, original headlights, bumpers, numberplate light, rear lights, handles, doors, windows, guages, grill, headlight surrounds... everything original. I am pi$$ed off with myself for not having the time to have gotten it on the road, but apart from some interior bits and pieces (pi$$ easy) and the rear windows (a little bit more work, but doable), she was registerable..!!

But now its destroyed.

I get the whole "well it had to be something" but for a car show that tries to show off they know about cars, they obviously dont know a thing.

And i do hope out of principal that his membership to the Mini Car Club ISSSSS cancelled...

end rant....
