A for sale of a clubman for $200 was read out at our club meeting the other night. I wen't and had a look at what I thought would be a bargain and was sorely disappointed :(

They had let it sit for about 14 years in a leaky garage and it had just about rusted away into nothing. It was a complete original car, and looked like it could have been in good nick when they parked it but alas not now :( :(

If someone doesn't want to drive their car why not sell or give it to someone who does, rather than letting another classic fade into oblivion? Upsetting :?

yeh this car was fine
until someone stripped the doors off...left it in the rain
then, only after rust started to develop, was it put in a shed...
it smells like rat piss, and has junk in it...
but i reckon it would b worth doin up still..nice condition other than the smell
but the person keeps sayin (everytime blake or i ask) 'im doin it up, it'll b worth heaps in 20yrs'
haha woteva..it wont b worth anything if its just rust...

Poor clubbies, haha..seen plenty of the "oh i'm gonna do it up someday" people

My car was reliable for about 2 and a bit years everyday, then it decided to have a pinion gear for lunch  Fresh geabox and a check over the rest with a little magic and he's back on his merry way, only a couple of teething problems since like headgasket blowing and a coil with a crack in it, but it's all good 8)

Am i the only one who finds joy out of Penrite HPR30? it's pretty good stuff... good oil pressure cold and warm. Never had a problem with it in 3 oil changes?

First thing we have to look at is the joy from oils part  :P

HPR30 is ok..I personally found it a bit thick for my liking, car felt less happy to rev and gearchanges weren't as nice as they are with the Formula R...

I don't think you'll find problems with any of the oils mentioned, personal preference...

I change my oil about once a month...

I don't consider it expensive... I've never paid more than $25 for 5 litres, the cheapest I've paid has been $20, I always buy it from the same place, just the guy behind the counter feels more-or-less generous on his markup.... 'best' price is $22, I let him get away with $25 last time cos it was $20 the time before ;)

I'm about to put it in my Cooper S motor, the oil was pretty clean from the previous owner changing it, but sat at about 40psi when hot - I'll let you know what it is after I put the fuchs in, I reckon it'll be above 50

I usually change it when I forget how long it's been since I changed it last - I really should get an odometer working

I changed the oil and cartridge the other day and filled it with GTX Magnatec
SAE 10W-40.
Taz has never been happier :D the box is quieter not that it was to loud in the first place.
he starts alot easier, :)
revs well :D
seems to run cooler and
best of all no oil leaks :D :D :D
and Repco currently have it on special at $25 as i seen in the cattledog they have recently putout

my 5 cents

you are either one very naive oblivious man
or one very brave radical man

EVERYONE tells everyone else
not to buy friction modified oil
ie. oil that has special additives to reduce friction
(good for block/pistons
bad ... very bad for gears/synchro)

and magnatec falls under that category

im not judging you
i am very interested
as everyone has always
stayed away from those oils
