I agree with the axle stand idea. They are NOT very dear these days so NO EXCUSE!!!
Anyway good to see it all sorted now.

Could also try leaving your jack ready to go under the car if something bad does happen.

I won't get under a car unless there are two things keeping it from falling on me. Axle stands first, then at least a jack to catch the car if it falls.

I wouldn't get anywhere near that one..

Really?

Explain what happens when someone applies a little forward pressure on the chassis while you're under there.. say, they lean against it?

Does 'topple' mean anything to you?

Just because they're strong in compression, doesn't mean they're suitable to support a 600kg weight over a person. If WorkCover saw you doing that at work, they'd throw the book at you.

Sorry Gareth...but if you were to bump you car from the door side you would be fine but from the front or rear your gone. You should atlease stack them in a box section rather than on top of each other, as you have.
I'm really sorry for starting the Bust your guts over this but as I have said this before on other thread where I have seen this "I DONT WANT TO LOSE ANY ONE OF US DUE TO THIS TYPE OF PRACTICE"

I use 2 Forklifts for work and have a good idea how heavy they are. If you Supervisor/Manager/Owner is allowing you all to work under a forklift with this practice I hope his insurance is payed up and hope the workcover does not pay a suprise visit as we had recently
