Hi I have done power window conversions on a few jap cars using Spal kits from AUDIOXTRA http://www.audioxtra.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp

also made some to fit XW Falcon by mounting late model power windows out of an XF cut of the XF arms and welded on XW arms I have a bunch of switches left over form previous jobs if you need some Regards Daren

Daren,

Are the SPAL kits any good?

They say made in Italy, but that could mean jack.

Cheers,
Tricky

A little late but here are some quick pics, next time I have them out I’ll take more pics but you should give you the idea.

From memory I got the motors out of a Ford AT Telstar GHIA (around 1989 I think) but I think most Ford motors are the same from around that time.

Image
Red – The old rivets that get drilled out to take off hand winder.
Black – two new holes drilled so you can unscrew the motor to get it in and out, it’s too balky with it on.
White – one screw gets left out.
The cog you see in the pic is on the motor and is close enough to the right size and pitch.

After you make a really nice door card

And two things that are a bit different

Thanks Daren, I have sent off an email to AudioXtra to get a price and availability.

Nathan, not a bad install. Did you have enough clearance between the window and the motor? Did you have any problem getting the power and speaker cables into the doors (pics perhaps??)

I take it you also have electric solenoids for central locking???

Cheers,
Tricky

No there is enough clearance, the only problem is there are no limit stops so if you hold the switch down to long it will skip on the cog and do bad things like ripping the bottem C section off the glass  I will take more pics of the cables tomorow and put up.

Yes and there is no key lock on that side, there is a place welded over the old hole. 8)

Brilliant - more pics please - especially of the window in the full down position with the door card removed.

Also, can you take some pics of how to did the wiriing through the door and into the door jamb.

Thanks.
Tricky

If you look at the second pic you will see the door card matches up to those rivnuts

Reviving old thread, I know
But I'm really interested in Nathan's telstar electric window regulator install.
I don't feel like gutting my doors to tuck components away and would like to retain a relatively flat door card where possible... Has anybody else done an install like this that could provide pics?
I'm looking at 05 ford focus window regulators on ebay and they seem fairly slim... Thoughts?
