I'm loving the way the 10 special's shown are the rarest procuced in the country and there are 2 examples of them for sale in the mag . Even though the broadspeed is a replica there's a broadspeed and a fang .

lol - it's always the way with that magazine - they do a feature on a car that's for sale, in this case I guess they just rang Watto and asked nicely

I'm not that old and I remember when it only had ads in it - 12 or 14 years ago

Well, I was reading this post and wondering when someone would click on it being basically a selection of cars from Issue 17 of TME and a few others featured earlier - Broadspeed, Unipower GT.

Don't worry folks, there will not be any law suits - yes, I was approached to do something a little out of the ordinary for the Mini's 50th anniversary for Unique Cars. I sent the editor, Chris Fincham, a copy of Issue 17 and he loved all the weird stuff.

It would seem quite a few people on here still don't read The Mini Experience. They get soooo excited when they see anything to do with Minis in another magazine, when TME can provide soooo much more.

If you usually get it and have missed a copy or two, or have trouble finding it at your newsagent, then I have only one word to say - subscribe. You will save money (around 12%) and never miss another issue, and go in the prize draws every issue of your subscription.

You can subscribe on-line as well. Go to www.isubscribe.com.au and search "mini"

Cheers,
Watto.

Another open wheel race car based on the mini is the Bricket. (I think thats how you spell it) I know there were at least two in Victoria. Does anyone know its origins or have a photo of it?

Is that bout building a terrapin? I'm lookin at doin that

Yes! It's the book by Allan Staniforth, the inventor of the 'Terrapin' :) I'm very tempted myself to build a Terrapin - once I have a good workshop :)

I've been looking at buying that book with a view to a retirement project. :)

Until quite recently, the plans were still available from Allan himself for about 65 pounds. I say quite recently because, while I was having another search around this weekend, i found out that Allan Staniforth had passed away in May.

I think the plans are still available, I think they're mentioned on that forum , somewhere.

here's when i first got excited about them

Buy it! It's such a good and inspiring read! :) On Amazon there are some reprint available. Unfortunately 2nd hand book seem to be pricy (saw them advertised for $640+ )?

I've read it too - sad news :( (I probably would've had a lot of questions).

That's funny - because the two pictures from that blue NZ Terrapin got me interested too :)

My book still got the order card in it :)

That would be for the original editions.

Allan and a friend have made extra runs of books so it's still available..

Pitstop have it for 90-odd bucks..

Expensive, but I may just take up the offer.
