Just curiously, what's the black slotted grille in the centre console under the radio? Is it a cassette holder? or just cosmetic?

they look like 4 little panels with an LED at the left hand end, and a white button at the right... still dunno what they do tho

yes, cassette holder. the white knob opens it and the led-lookalike (100% mechanical) shows if a cassette is in it
