No but my "Rotary Muffler" is good for a proven 40Hp at the wheels !

I ran it the other day without a muffler.... sounded EXACTLY the same... well, it had a bit more "top-end" sound.. not as "dub dub, more, "drak Drak" ...
But still quieter than a reasonably stock one !

mmmmmm Turbos... is there anything they CANT do ?

My $109 Lukey muffler does a great job TY very much. What possible gain do these people think they are going to get when they stick 4 inches diameter of sewer pipe on the back of their exhaust??

For one the car would be breathless at mid to high speed(no exhaust gas velocity) and just the fact it looks plain stupid. One of the better tuning shops here in Canberra proved the point to a young Ricer. 2 x identical nissan 200SX vehicles except one had the "cannon"(or virtual penis enlarger - whichever) attached. THe results showed the bog 200SX had 18 percent more power over the one with the cannon - to prove the point even further the operator removed the cannon and installed a STD SX exhaust muffler - little to say he found - you guessed it - 18 percent more power.

Save you money and buy something worthwhile with your mini - cannons are not money well spent

I have put my soapbox away now so bring it on

I liked the look of the cannon exhaust. I was going to get one till they told me the price..!

Still... with Minis 18 percent more power, 18 percent less power, we arent talking about much power really... isnt it all about how fast you go around corners..??

Rob,
I guess this goes under the category of "Revelations that people should decide for themselves".
It is indeed interesting to hear about these counter-intuitive claims, antagonising our long time trusted traditions, the only thing we can do is to say what we believe, and let receivers decide on which direction they should feel comfortable.

Tradtion #1: big muffler = more power
Reason: less exhaust pressure, less back pressure, opened breathing
Revelation: true to an extent. Actually need a degree of Pressure to continue the exhaust velocity.

Tradtion #2: Run in an engine gently
Reason: gentle wearing away of over-tolerances, fanging it is just plain [insert word here]
Revelation: Tests on race engines have shown more power, greater acceleration on fanged run-in engines

Tradition #3: More Cores = More Cooling
Reason: more cores = more water running through = more cooling
Revelation: Less Cores = more air capability through radiator = more cooling

I have my reasons to repute or dismiss these claims, most of the time I am taking the diplomatic stance of being able to look at advantages of both sides.
You Decide.

Tradition #4: More drinks = more hung over the next morn
Reason: self explanatory
Revelation: its not true. and you know it

he's making us look uneducated.
which i am
..cannons dont do it for me.

something un-mini related but ties in somewhere..
i've taken people out in the mr2, and they're like "so when do u get an exhaust for it?"
"..never"
if it doesnt add any power (which it doesn't) then i see no point.

but as the saying goes. "to each his own" and i say we stick to that, willy can rice it, coz it's his cup of tea.
u can drive it with hybrid motors if u want.
or with a sports 850. who cares it's ur mini not anyone elses

well to all that have seen Vivan, you will have
seen he "cannon" (well the whole exhaust system
makes me chuckle - standard exhaust manifold with
peasshooter pipe going to about halof way down the car where
it usually bends to go out the side of the car...they chopped it where
it begins to bend and welded on a straight peice of exhaust pipe
(still pea shooter size) and then put a cannon looking muffler
on it (but look into the muffler and you see a little peashooter
hididng in there!! dont know how it makes such a nice note, but somehow?)
but the moral of the story is it adds a bit of haha value to the car
which i likes, and it sounds good!!

BTW i think i concur with my learned friend.....the more alchol

and/or ELATION and will do more things they may or may not
fell a bit sorry for in the morning
