apparently acrylic thinners is really bad for you...

Correct. So make sure you mix it with orange jucie. :)

It is ""bad"" for you yes, the skin on my hands is proof of that... but it as far as the nasties that eat you lungs go, you can filter them out. You can not filter out the nasties in 2k. And to be honest with you, the nasties in acrylic thinners will only cause serious damage if you were doing it day in day out for a living (with out a mask),, if you are only doing the odd job once in a while, the effects would not even be as bad as getting a ride in a car with some one smoking.... its only a problem if it is on going.

Alot can be said for el cheapo enamel jobs :),, done right they can look a million bucks! and the best part is that if they loose their shine after 5 years of constant sun expossure, you can spray multipurpose thinners on them and they come back to life! I use good ol' dulux enamel on mokes, they are a bitch to compond so gloss of the gun is great. And its cheaper than 2k. The paint only get chipped off when you take em bush so why waste money on dear paint? Well thats just the way I think about it anyway. If i did that padock bashing for grown ups they call "motokarna", I'd probably paint my ""track car" in enamel.

Just my 2 cents

(PS I love padock bashing,,, so don't get the wrong idea :) )

I was wondering if you guys might use Pressure Pot set ups, it would make it a hell of a lot easier. I've got a little 2 litre one that I use on some jobs (or parts of jobs). If the bugger wasn't so damn hard to clean I'd use it on everything!

Thats a nice sized spray booth.... :!:

Yeh Phat, pressure pot all the way with those big nasty jobs!
A few months ago I did 2 dog trailers at once (only just fit them both in the booth :D ), complete colour changes!
It took 7 hours straight on the gun and I blew away 16 litres of paint on them.
I couldnt imagine having to refill a normal gravity or suction fed gun that many times to do a job.

7 hours straight?! My hat goes off to you sir... but only cause I couldn't stand hanging off a ladder for 7 hours,, I'd get jelly legs

Yeah, bugger filling up a gravity feed 27 times to do a job,,, instead of taking 7 hours I reckon it'd take more like 12-14 if you had to keep stopping to mix.

I reckon that's way more interesting than just painting easy ol' cars where you can keep your feet on the ground and get it done in a couple of hours.

to be honest, cars are harder!
On a trailer, minimal prep required and finish required!
sand and prepsol, 1 dust coat of primer (no etch!), then three, maybe four heavy and healthy layers of colour! Thats it!!
none of this "deoxidine", wet rubbing, flowcoating, clear coating, polishing, and stuff.
Do it with the minimum, do it well, do it sexy, and do it once!
No room for error, or time wasting! As they say, "measure it twice, cut it once!"
