Gearboxes are easy, once you work out how to take apart/put back together and what to look out for.

The Gearbox kit from Minispares actually looks like a pretty good deal .. . .

Hmmm I wonder if its time to rebuild "ol whiney" yet .....

Kev, that kit with a comp pin should be all I need for a rod-change box ?
Would it include the actual rod-change shaft seal ?

Comparable prices to our mates at Karcraft ?

Hmmmmmm
J

Yeah it's cheaper to bring the kit in. Get the S 1st motion shaft & laygear kit http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=37122 while you're at it.. 8)

The overhaul kit includes the rodchange shaft seal.

No such thing here really. Need to buy the bits separate.
PM Mike- he priced the exercise, then brought the kit in.

Karcraft do a bearing kit (4 synchro boxes) for $140 but that excludes the idler and diff bearings, and everything else you will need.

Less gap 3rd to 4th is all, gap between other gears is the same. Raises 1-2-3 by 1/17.
Probably hardly worth $$$ really, although Mike did it.

Gee, thanks Kev, thanks for the reassurance. :)

James the difference in terms of your driving experience is not quite negligeable but is not drastic by any means (or maybe Kev just kept the 22g1040 cluster and told me its in ;)). But I did get the conversion kit for free (long story) so it was either to go into my ever growing "to be sold one day" pile or into the car - and that pile is begining to stink and attract small rodents quite frankly, also children get lost inside.

My reply to Stuartminidlx had all the prices in it - dont have a copy as my PM outbox was full - but maybe he can post it.

GEARBOX,4SYNC REBUILD KIT INC DIFF PRE A PLUS 14MM MAINSHAFT £119.66
