Considering twin cam twin turbo for the 1100S as its cheaper than proper A series rebuild with 220hp+ instant not waiting for it to wind up like A series it will make the morris 1100S a cheap fast and reliable shopping trolley or distance vehicle for more people in comfort.

Steve

um what are you talking about, why would you twin turbo a mini....do you mean buy a twin cam head from england and turbo the car? or sugesting you find a jap motor and put a twin turbo set up on it and use it to drive to the shops....so what have you been smoking? twin turbo... all through the front wheels...and what do you mean waiting for the aseries to wind up, its normally aspirated, its turbo cars you wait to wind up...

not meaning to be rude, but jsut a little confused

also, i reckon it would be a little more to get the whole thing converted and engineered than to just get a aseries rebuilt....btw havenothing against jap conversions, but seriously be reasonable...

I am with you SG. I think that there would be a garage and a half of very upset girls right now... INCLUDING Steve... LOL

I think that the idea of a big engine in a little old car is great. It doesnt matter about the size or the capacity or the horsepower or the fact that it will go 0-100km/h in 5 seconds. Its all about the BLING.. More bling the better IMHO. Its also the achievement of being able to do something like that. Hell I want to set up my 850 with a 1.3L jap spec race engine with 4 wheel disc brakes and enough bling bits to get considered as a disco ball.

BRING IT ON STEVE... Just this time provide a history of pics.

Peter, I have not met you,
and I'm a close friend of Steve's
but I will try my hardest to keep unbiased and objective in this reply.

1. Steve and Mikey are mini Lovers. some would call them purists (but a purist is someone who, regardless of inconvenience, money and personal likes, go to all lengths for originality). Their minis are not completely original (apart from Dorothy) they are very standard with a few personal touches.
They dont mind swapping motors, they dont mind changing colours, they dont mind driving their minis 300 miles just for a run.
They have a fleet of A-series powered cars; have a nut and bolt restoration of an 850, another 850, a 998 elf, 998 van, 998 elf,
so you cant say that comment on Twin Turbo Conversion was all boof head power talk.
http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5396

2. Their 1100 may need engine work, so instead of putting in the minimum of $1500 for a complete engine rebuild (+Gearbox)
dropping in a modern engine for $3000 seems appealing
it would be used just like if they were to buy a 1995 corolla to do the rounds at the shops
(like how we have loved minis and the 'more reliable, more comfy, more fast' car in the garage)
in a converted 1100 theyd have the best of both classic and modern worlds

3. 'A-series winding up' means getting the revs up and keeping them up in todays traffic. (I'm sure we all know with the gear ratios and power loss)

4. Brad 13secmini has done it, and its perfect

5. I admire your loyalty to the A-series, I am somewhat conservative about modifying minis especially when it comes to ripping apart an original mini simply for power reasons

I hope I've clarified (and calmed) a few minds

Hey Steve (or Duc if you know) what colour was Dorothy originally..? In the pic (on other thread) she looks yellow or lemon like Maurice. I think the colour was Acacia back then.

hey guys, sorry, i m a newbie here and dont want to make enemies....iv been watching this forum for a while and have known of Dorothy for a long time and i think she is an ace example of an 850! i think steve should be aplauded for spending so much time and effort doing up a car (well before people wanted to TOUCH 850's let alone resotre the shitty things) that really are not anything special, just an 850 really, but he is good for doing it, bringing a mini back to life tht is.....

....however, in saying that, the twin turbo comment is still as nutty and non-sensical im sorry it still makes me laugh and just wonder what drugs he is smoking, and dorothy rip my balls off....hahaha as if an 850 sould catch my 'S'....
