G'day Graham what do you consider a "big cam" that the maniflow manifold doesnt work well with :?:

Hi Ballistic
Any thing up around the 300 duration mark but you could make a bigger balance pipe for it.

I think he maybe talking about something like a Kent 310 scatter

And I still want to see someone put triple 1 1/8 SU's with custom manifold on an 850 :)

Actually it would be better with quad 1 1/8 SU's I,ll start a separate thread so I don't hijack this one anymore :)

HI ALL
One thing we have noticed with the standard manifold running 2x 1.1/2 su's with a cam around 276 duration and smaller at around 7000rpm one slide will suddenly drop to about half way open, now lifting the slide while the engine is running makes no difference to the power, now david visard rang me about the same problem as he had motors doing the same thing and the one thing that was common was that 98%of of the motors that did it had a modified manifold on it, in saying this i have seen this with a std manifold, the only conclusion i can come up with is that the motor thinks it has bigger carbs than it has, in other words the motor is over carbureted for the cam it is running, because the motor does rob from one carb the other carb and may be the modfied manifold is becoming to efficient for the motor with the big balance pipe, hence for the washer with a smaller hole in it.
