Got caught many years ago replacing a primary gear seal. If you are not careful the clutch plate splines will damage the new seal as you slide it over and it will leak almost straight away.

Not having the special BMC tool I always wrap the splines with insulating tape first. Works for me. (dont' forget to take it off)
