Drexxle , you're description of a Californian Moke is also flawed so you've probably only confused the seller further , my '81 Californian moke is only complied as a 2 seater and has the same matting (or very similar at least) from new .

Yeah the matting is ridgy diggy,, it was standard in all mokes at that time..

And they were available with or with out a rear seat...
.
.
.
The rest of it is nothing special, and BY NO MEANS CALI

From memory it's cut as if it's come from a roll and not individually moulded , I'll check in the morning if no one's verified it by then .

Yep, serious. :)

It's just rubber matting, it's got chopped edges and it moulds itself with heat... its nothing flash, but don't forget these weren't marketed to compete with Rolls Royce

Clark Rubber sell the matting (that is the exact same type as factory fitted) off the roll. You only need to cut it to the right shape.

Have a look at this on the Moke forum. It answers some questions about the compliance plate, bumpers, disc brakes, engine size etc etc.

http://www.moke.com.au/Joomla/content/view/29/114/

Helped me to decide that my Moke is not a Californian!

Just a quick pointer to people that study compliance plates or just look at Mokes in general, take a look at how the date is stamped on some 1980 Mokes and this one is a good example.

So what year was it made?
And what year was it stamped.

According to my Californian Moke the third letter on the Vin/Chassis is the best way to tell if the Moke came off the assembly line as a Californian.
My Number reads- AKFPD19Y.......
The "F" is what you are looking for(1980 onwards).
The Chassis prefix on the one for sale is "PP" which means its a "poverty pack Moke :)
Mind you if he gets the price that his asking,I think my Moke has just doubled in price :D :D

You know,,, I might have seen more than a couple of mokes growing up.. and when I think about it,, after 11/79, none of the genuine Cali's actually had "Californian Moke" on the comp late... they just had "Leyland moke" writen on them... and when I think about it,, about it only about 92% of genuine Gal bodies were actually stamped as a 2 setter,, not a 4...

Ian,, on your Moke that you mentioned earlier,, what does it actually have on the comp plate?
.
.
.
Regardless, the one on ebay IS NOT A CALI, IT IS A BASE MODEL

I'll get back to you tomorrow with the details , it's an odd bod though as the hand written colour sticker (proper colour sticker but with no colour name printed in it's box) is kraft silver though i can't find any mention of kraft having corporate coloured cars or giving one away as a prize .

Dear pos025, you mention that the Moke is in factory new condition, yet many items on the car have been changed:
-Instrument cluster's been painted black
-Top of dash painted black
-Aftermarket mirrors
-Oxygen pump removed
-Wrong heater ducut hosing
-1980 Californians Had roll cages factory
-The handles and Mirror brackets are painted Black

Don't mistake what i am saying for me flaming you, but if you are going to advertise a car as completely original, it ought to be.
On top of that, you are asking $25 000 for the car, when for that money one would expect a show winning car, yet this is in no where near that condition.
I am not sure whether you read 'The Mini Experience' (Australian mini magazine), but there was a Leyland 1275 GT in ACTUAL factory condition, and it sold on ebay for $20 000.

The car in it's current altered state should only be worth $10-12000, whereas you are asking twice that.

I think you should seriously rethink your price.

Hi Champ,
Thanks for the info, I have been offered $20K for it twice now. If I get the $25K I will sell it. If I wanted to ask 50K, I would of. You find me one more original than this I bet you cant. Maybee a couple of piddly things have changed. So What. My Claim is the originality of the moke and if someone wants one, its there choice. All the Best.

I know where there's a more original moke.......I might post photos of it tonight.
It's an 82 californian, everything in mint condition as it all should be.
The most prostine moke I've ever seen. $25000 for that would be good compared to this knock off.
