3.44 with RE282, 1411cc. I don't have quite as much of a wheelspin problem in 1st as Kev, but I do use the A023R tyres. It can still wheelspin though, 1st, 2nd or 3rd  just depends on the corner

Yea in the 4EFTE :)

What driving do you do most and how do you want the car to perform?

It's mostly personal really, you'll like the extra grunt from the 3.44 which is my personal choice for a mini that does a bit of freeway use but if you're used to the 3.1 you might hate the extra revs but some people love it?

Also depends on the engine, small or big block, cam etc with a 3.1 you'd want a fairly powerful motor.

Internally stock 1275 A+
3.27 final drive + 1.15:1 drop gears - Basically a 3.76
185/60R13 tyres.

I have located a 3.48 final drive to try. 8)

i have just swaped from a 3.44 to a 3.1 1360cc re13, etc because the revs do my head in at 100km on 10inch wheels, haven't driven it yet but fingers crossed as i would like to do some club runs which can be an 800k round trip..

1275, hif44, 265ish duration cam, 2.9 diff, its stuck in 3rd, so im not sure...

BUT:
A mate has a 1275, MG metro cam and head, HIF44 and a 2.9, its quick enough, and i followed it up to 170km/hr on Pukekohe on sunday in my rover 220 turbo, the 2.9 just means more gear changes for him.

How do you guys cope with anything lower than a 3.44 on your highways???

3.647 is OK on our so-called highways, 4K RPM is 100kmh and 4,400 is 110.
Can't go faster anyway, or the fun police get you.

I don't drive far on highways, Minis are for back streets and side roads. :P
