No. Minis were only assembled in Nu Zullund from CKD kits, mostly from UK.
Australia did export some Cooper Ss and Clubman GTs there but AFAIK they were complete, not CKD kits.

My Dad was the third owner when we got this car, about 10 years ago, it only had 22,000 kays on the clock. The previous owner got it when it had only 6,000 on it. It must have been converted to an SS in the 70's or early 80's because the old man my Dad got it from owned it for around 20 years and he was positive it was an SS. Not that we knew that the SS was anything special. We found out, like, 2-3 years later that they were rare. But the old bloke was positive it was made in NZ...

If it was made in New Zealand it would not have come with an Australian compliance plate saying clearly that the car was "Manufactured by Leyland Motor Corporation of Australia Ltd"

Yeah. Anyone know how much to replace the printed circuit on the back of my 3 gauge cluster? It's been torn in a few spots. The gauges are all in mint condition so I don't really want to replace the whole lot.

Send a PM to Convertible Mini on this forum. He is an auto electrician and has had new printed circuits made recently.

Your Body Plate dated 2/76 fits with the series of Body ID numbers which ran from 1 April 1974 to April 1977.
The break down of your code is as follows

021 - Mini & Mini Van
D - Mini Sedan - manual
2S - 2 door saloon
1 - Lowest level of trim
M- manual tranmission
09 - 998cc engine

The correct code for a Leyland Mini SS is 022D2S3M09 where

022 - Mini S as base vehicle
D, 2S, M, 09 - as above
3 - Special Trim eg SS

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
