Std Cooper S rod - 690 grams
Std 1275 rod - 650 grams
These new rods - ?

These new rods are a "H" pattern.
Most rods are an "I" beam pattern.
What is the advantage of "H" pattern rods?

Lighter for the same stiffness.

The top one is heavier than the bottom one because they used very dense ink to print the SC logo and name on it

Hi Kev
you can run the 1275 rods in the small bores, ihave them in my formula juniour motor, you just have to push the piston out of the bottom of the bore, fit the pin through the piston and rod then push it back up into the bore i use teflon buttons when i do it that way i have at least 8 race motors using the big rods, just be very careful when pulling the pistons out the bottom you don't pull it out to far and let the rings pop out,
BIG PROBLEM.
Graham Russell

what size bore would they need to drop in?

why arent they bushed in the small end? Most aftermarket rods come bushed(Chev, Ford etc) these are all H Beam as well. wouldnt it be better if the small end is bushed less friction etc.

You then need to use circlips, and in a long stroke Mini at high RPM, they do break. That's why the Cooper S and all 1275s have a press fitted pin.
It's debatable whether friction is any less using a bush, as the piston is a looser fit on the pin than the bush is, at operating temp.

If anyone is looking for a set of these conrods Lindsay Seibler has advised that the price drops by $100 to $580 if two sets are ordered.

I need a set so if someone wants a set we could both benefit.

You would pay for your set separately and have them sent to you directly. We just need to order at the same time, so keep me posted if you want to order.

How are these rods going in engines, esp race motors? Has anyone had any problems with them? They seem too cheap for what you get, I would like some feedback before I buy some, my engineer will make a set of rods for me out of titanium but they will cost a fortune, so I would like to try some of these new rods. Dont get me wrong, I think these rods are great but would like some positive stories before I buy a couple of sets of them.
