Woohoo!

I ordered disc brakes from Minispares over the weekend and my credit card hasn't quite been billed yet.

Brings it down to $770 for the full Cooper S kit. Awesome!

We will ignore the ridiculous amounts of postage, as it won't be calculated in the official story that I tell my other half.

Ha ha, my wife has worked out it is prudent to ask what currency I am quoting when I tell her the price of things i would like to buy. :)

She hasn't quite worked that one out yet.

The funny thing is that the Mini actually lives at her place, and I have a strict list of things I'm not allowed to do to cars as she doesn't want me on the race track.

I'm wondering what level she'll notice. I think I'll get away with the discs, suspension and possibly the 1275, but the roll cage might give the game away.

If I change one thing at a time over the course of a year or so, I'm hoping it will be so gradual it won't be obvious!

I've been trying to get a shipping quote via e-mail from both Mini Spares UK and Mini Sport UK for a Traveller Wood KIt for two weeks now.

The raise in interest rates today will only help the $A go higher. With interest rates around the world very low compared to us, this make us an attractive place to invest. To invest here, people from other countries have to buy our currency, thus pushing the price of $A up. The bottom line is that we can get more of their money for one of ours. See Mum, that Ecomomics degree was not a waste of time!

Woo Hoo, wood kit ordered.
(Used the chat function to hassle them.)

Will be landed for just over a grand with shipping. Far cheaper than the three grand I was quoted a few years ago. 8)

Cheers,

But the spelling course was ;)

I was listening to a radio programme discussing the EU with respect to Greece and the UK. Greece's debt to GDP is about 135%, the UK's not much better off at roughly 80%. That's a very sad indictment on a country that used to rule the world and now I know why there's such a lot of poms emigrating to Australasia.

I've just ordered some HD adjustable lower arms and might get some disk brake hubs and other essentials. Although the freight is ridiculous, the lower item cost still makes it worthwhile as long as I keep each shipment under NZ$400 exc. freight.
