Here's a crap photo, it's a Toyota 4afe manifold. You can see the injector being held between the fuel rail and manifold. It's not clamped down hard, you can still twist it, just sort of retained by the rail

Does a forced induction setup change anything when securing injectors?

Not really, most factory turbo cars use a similar set up to the photo posted. Some Subarus and Nissans use side feed injectors, but even they (in particular Nissan SR20's) have aftermarket fuel rail kits available, so they can use commonly available (and cheaper) standard style Denso/Bosch/Delphi high flow injectors.

It was a bit of shock to me to, they're just a push in fit.

Adding on to that, does a forced induction setup benefit from a EFI conversion over a carby?

In the setup I'm keen to try thr benifit is tuning. Done with a computer rather than playing with needles and springs.

Might look into that costs related to a conversion then, since forced induction needs custom needles in a carby setup.

Not really a bit deal, they have O-ring top and bottom of injector and are held down into the manifold by the fuel rail. No big deal.

jeez - that's what I was saying at the start of this thread - SU's are already just about ideal for an injection throttle body, just need the injector mounted

simon,

i'm looking at boring the jet out and fitting the injector in there. then all i have to do is fill the carb where the piston is. and hey-presto i have an SU looking injection set-up.

Just need to get a throttle position sensor mounted and ya set. Probably bore the carb out so it's round where the normal jet sits, too.

was thinking the same thoughts

this way the fuel rail is below the "carb" and out of sight
i'm going to use a set of twin carbs, i was thinking of hiding the fuel regulator in the bottom of a fuel bowl. this way the fuel enters one carb, goes to the injectors via the fuel rail and then to the regulator and out the remaining carb.
