GT is talking about separating the axle from the pot joint. This is how I do it and to help this process, have ground a flat on the axle step, where the inner pot joint sits, to allow the long pointed drift (screwdriver) to do its job. Easy peasy and no grease and lost balls everywhere! Pot joint remains intact on the engine.
