Hey Dyl. Greetings from the North-West. Got the day off today - woohoo! My stay's been extended til about the 9th of next month.

Oscar used to sludge up in the ol days. I put a filter on the crankcase breather and ran the rocker cover vent thru a PCV (a nice compact sized old Nissan-Datsun one I had lyin around). No problems since.

doc i have a 1310, i have two breathers which go to a bottle,ie rocker cover, and clutch.,i get mayo under the cap, even after caning for three hours,i must admit i do live in tassie.im not overly conserned, the carby im running is a inch and 3 quarter hif,so in a nut shell should i be concerned...cheers andy

I would run both hoses to a Y piece, then onto the vac port on the side of the SU, which is what it's there for.
Alternative- do this but plug the rocker cover one so it's sealed. You should then use an S filler cap (which has a filter to let a little air in) but I've done this with plain caps on a few 1275s, no problem.

you can both do what Kev said and run it to the pipe on the side of the SU - if there is one

but a new PCV is cheaper than I expected.... Karcraft list at about $80, or here's on on ebay UK http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EMMISSION-CONTROL ... 0199937464

If you run the hose to the vac port on the SU as I said it is still a PCV system, but no PCV valve is needed. As it's not going direct into the manifold.

Yeah I have the vaccum port on the side of the SU (which is currently blanked off), and also on the air filter body. And i should probably buy a new air filter...

So what needs connecting? Where should the crankcase breather go, the carb or the air filter? And or course the rocker cover will go to whatever the crankcase filter doesn't...

Or should i put one of those little breather filter things on somewhere?

Hook crankcase breather to the carby port.
If you have a big breather pipe on the rocker cover I would block it, or connect to the filter case.

Don't use those silly Blingy filter things, they are useless once oil/water gets on them.

Yeah I always thought that about them.

SO you reckon connect the crankcase breather to the carb, and the rocker cover vent (standard size) to the air filter then? Alrighty, I'll go and do it now and hope there are some hoses in the garage... nowhere near here to buy some at this time

Stole some hoses of rodney's currently inactive mini. His is also a late clubby and as such is supposed to have the pollution gear. He has the charcoal canister, to which the rocker cover breather is connected, but also has the overflow from the float chamber and the fuel tank breather connected. my fuel tank breather is connected to the overflow on the float chamber...

we have a spare charcoal canister, should i make this right?
